International Space Station Launch Planned for July
BOSTON, July 18, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- https://www.accion-systems.com/Accion Systems, a leading manufacturer of the world's most advanced ion electrospray in-space propulsion systems, today announced it will donate its scalable propulsion technology to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's upcoming BeaverCube mission. BeaverCube is a nationwide educational mission to introduce high school students to aerospace science and technology through designing a 3U CubeSat. The spacecraft is scheduled to launch to the International Space Station in July, where it will be deployed for operations later in 2022.
Accion's TILE (Tiled Ionic Liquid Electrospray) propulsion system will be installed on MIT's 3U BeaverCube spacecraft and will be used to demonstrate the applicability of the electrospray system for smallsat use. The TILE system will raise and lower the orbit of the spacecraft to demonstrate the technology and aid the students in learning about in-space propulsion and maneuvering.

BeaverCube is overseen at MIT by The Space Telecommunications, Astronomy and Radiation (STAR) Laboratory, led by Professor Kerri Cahoy. The STAR Lab is part of the Space Systems Laboratory in the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics at MIT.
BeaverCube was selected by NASA as part of the organization's https://www.nasa.gov/directorates/heo/home/CubeSats_initiativeCubeSat Launch Initiative, which to date has launched over 140 CubeSats on more than 40 missions as part of the Educational Launch of Nanosatellites (ELaNa) through NASA's Launch Services Program.
