“No matter where you come from, what your cultural background is or what your gender is, you can become a member of the C-Suite when you are motivated, take the appropriate steps and work hard,” De La Rosa said.

Written for people of various economic and cultural backgrounds, “Empower Yourself for an Amazing Career” by Blanca De La Rosa is an insightful business advice book that encourages readers to climb the corporate ladder. De La Rosa, a retired executive, utilizes her seasoned business expertise to provide practical, timeless tips to budding business professionals and inspire them to not only land a corporate position but grow and thrive in their careers.

As a companion book to “Pursuing a Better Tomorrow,” De La Rosa’s other business book that highlights her transition from the New York Projects and into a corporate career, “Empower Yourself for an Amazing Career” shifts the focus to the tools that readers can use to grow, expand and find success in a corporate environment. With practical advice weaved with her personal experience, she seeks to help people avoid similar mistakes she has made, get ahead, navigate obstacles and overcome failure in their careers.

“When I first entered the corporate world, there were no role models, no one to emulate, no one to advise on the do’s and don’ts of the corporate environment, so I had to learn things on my own by trial and error and making a lot of mistakes along the way,” De La Rosa said. “I hope that by reading my advice, young professionals can avoid making these same mistakes and have the confidence they need as they enter their careers.”

Born in the Dominican Republic and raised in the projects of the Upper West Side of Manhattan during a time when there was not a supportive Latino community, De La Rosa’s determination is what led her to receive a bachelor's degree in international business management from Pace University. She went on to have a 34-year career, where she rose through the ranks of Mobil/ExxonMobil Oil Corporation.

In her role as a business development manager and president of ExxonMobil Oil Corporation’s employee resource group, she often represented the company as a lead presenter at the Regional and National Scholarship Awards hosted by the Hispanic Heritage Foundation. De La Rosa hopes to motivate other Latinos and women to succeed in their careers.

“No matter where you come from, what your cultural background is or what your gender is, you can become a member of the C-Suite when you are motivated, take the appropriate steps and work hard,” De La Rosa said.
