Mobile devices will never completely replace desktops for a number of reasons. For starters, desktops are typically more powerful and have better ergonomics. They are also less expensive in both the short run and over time.

On the other hand, a laptop, tablet, or smart phone with a black screen would require replacement of the entire device.
Another argument for desktops is the stability of the platform. Where mobile devices, by their nature, are trendy and quickly become obsolete; desktops are designed for the long haul; they can easily be upgraded and updated for years without replacing the entire unit. This ability to upgrade vs. replace, for many organizations, is the single biggest cost saver of desktops.
Many businesses opt for desktops because of control issues. This is especially important where sensitive data is involved. A desktop, for example, is much less likely to get stolen or lost than a laptop, tablet, or smart phone. Desktops also tend to be much faster than mobile devices and they can accommodate multiple processors and video cards.
Tablets and smart phones tend to do a lot of things, but none of them very well. A desktop system is composed of multiple components--each designed to perform its primary function well. A good example is the keyboard. Today’s desktop keyboards are ergonomically configured to reduce and even eliminate stress on finger and wrist joints. The keyboards on laptops are necessarily smaller and because of this, more difficult and less comfortable to use.
