Lots Donated Directly from Screaming Eagle, Ridge, Domaine Ponsot & More

Acker, the world’s leading fine and rare wine auction house announced today the official date of an auction to benefit the United Sommeliers Foundation. The United Sommeliers Foundation, USF, has recently been formed to provide relief to furloughed sommeliers due to the COVID crisis, and Acker has agreed to serve as its exclusive auction partner to help raise funds.

The restaurant business, devastated by the global pandemic, has seen a surge of hundreds of sommelier applicants in need of financial assistance. Many wineries and private individuals have answered the call by committing lots to be sold via the Acker web auction, slated to begin accepting bids on Monday, May 25th on its website. The close of the auction will be held “live online” with Acker chairman John Kapon presiding as auctioneer over the sale on Sunday evening, May 31st beginning at 8pm ET. The auction will feature an incredible assortment of lots donated directly from famed individuals and domaines such as Screaming Eagle, Ridge, Domaine Ponsot, Martine Saunier, Weingut Keller, Domaine Weinbach, Hundred Acre, Peter Michael, Kistler, Chateau Montelena, Jordan, Booker, Mayacamas, Spottswoode, Bond, Quilceda Creek, with more donations flowing in each day.

Said Kapon, “In these times of struggle and confusion, there are so many in our direct path in need of assistance, and we have committed to helping those who have been great ambassadors for our industry. Acker has committed to donating a significant selection of lots on its own, as well as a portion of the proceeds on each lot consigned on behalf of USF, and we are inviting all of our clients and friends to take part along with us.”

Any individuals or organizations interested in donating to this worthy cause should email including “USF Consignment” in the subject line. For more information on the USF, visit
