LYMINGTON, England, April 19, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Phillip Messinger's personal experience of training, seafaring, medical issues at sea, heart-searching, breakdown and recovery inspired him to write "Something in the Blood" (published by AuthorHouse UK), an action-packed tale of fate that intertwines the lives of a merchant navy deck officer and a civilian doctor, leaving each to look inward and reflect on their career choices.
As a child, Chris thought he wanted to be a doctor, but a visit to a training ship convinced him that his future lay at sea. Jonathan on the other hand decided to study medicine but always had a hankering for faraway places, and had a rather romanticized view of the sea based on some of his father's reminiscences.
Fate would bring them together, and in an action-packed account, this book explores the way in which they re-visited their early aspirations, and decided if indeed they should have followed a different course. They pursued their careers, but always with the occasional thought that, maybe, they had been swayed by circumstances into the wrong direction.
"This is an exciting action-seafaring and medical stuff without too much detail. It is about the dilemma which everyone faces about 'Who am I,' 'What should I do with my life' 'What is my direction?' and 'Am I good enough?'" Messinger says. When asked what he wants readers to take away from this book, he answers, "An awareness that we are all capable, that when we make life-decisions, they may not always be right. They can be changed, but if we listen to our own heart, and are fair to ourselves, we have a good chance of making and living an effective life."
