Ada Developers Academy Announces New Members to Board of Directors
Seattle, WA (PRWEB) September 29, 2015 -- Ada Developers Academy (“Ada”), a Seattle-based not-for-profit program offering tuition-free software development training for women, today announced that it has doubled its Board of Directors by electing five new members. Ada’s new board members include Tammarrian Rogers, Amy McCullough, Rachel Stoermer, Jill Domanico and Emily Rollins.
“We're excited to welcome our new board members, who bring together a broader range of expertise from the technology, finance, legal, and education sectors,” said Ada’s Executive Director Cynthia Tee. “As Ada doubles down on filling the gender gap in Seattle's tech scene by graduating 75 students a year from our immersion developer training program, we will be working on plans for continued education and leadership opportunities for our Ada alumni, increasing the diversity of women in our cohorts, as well as further expanding Ada in other ways.”
In the next year, Ada’s Board of Directors will help the nonprofit with a number of initiatives, namely to increase the pool of sponsorships to cover more frequent cohorts, build day-to-day operations, attract more candidates from a diverse range of backgrounds and develop a retention and leadership program for alumni.
Ada’s new board members:
Amy McCullough is a Partner and Managing Director at Trilogy, an early stage technology venture capital firm based in Bellevue, Washington. Amy has been a member of the investing team at Trilogy since 2007 and works with a variety of portfolio companies, including several founded or run by women entrepreneurs. Prior to Trilogy, Amy was an equity research analyst in the Investment Bank of JPMorgan as part of the team covering Small and Mid-Cap Applied Technologies, which included more than 35 companies with a combined market cap of $70B.
Emily Rollins is an Assurance Partner at Deloitte & Touche. She has more than 20 years of providing services to early-stage venture-backed companies through large public companies, primarily in the technology, media, telecommunications, and venture capital industries. In addition to her client service responsibilities, Emily is an instructor for local, national and industry training courses, specializing in technical accounting and auditing subjects due to her extensive client service experience.
Jill Domanico is Vice President of Talent with Seattle based, Skytap, Inc. Jill brings with her over 20 years of HR, Recruiting and Mergers & Acquisition experience through a variety of leadership and consulting roles within large, start-up and emerging tech companies; including, Skytap, Microsoft, Google, Visio and iStart Ventures. In addition, Jill is part owner in a boutique winery.
Tammarrian Rogers is an Engineering Manager at Microsoft and owner of TSRogers Enterprises. She brings over 25 years of experience in the tech industry in engineering leadership positions in both hardware and software at Microsoft, Apple, and General Motors. Her passion is mentoring and inspiring women and people of color to explore careers in technology. Tammarrian also enjoys the outdoors, spending time with her family and their blue standard poodle (yes, she's really blue), and playing racquetball.
Rachel Stoermer is Senior Corporate Counsel at DocuSign, Inc., where she works on technology transactions, and advocates for the use of electronic signatures. Prior to DocuSign she has held roles as an attorney at Microsoft and aQuantive, and nonprofit management roles at the UW Experimental College and Lifelong AIDS Alliance. She has a JD and a Masters in Public Administration, both from the University of Washington. She is a board member with the Washington Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel, and a member of the Mother Attorney Mentoring Association of Seattle. She spends most of her free time chasing a toddler.
Founded in late 2013, Ada has trained and facilitated the placement of 40 women in leading Puget Sound software companies. Ada has been met with overwhelming support from the region’s tech companies, who provide monetary sponsorship, actively engage as mentors, and teach hands-on experience through internships. Sponsor companies herald the program for not only creating skilled programmers, but for also providing a novel and effective way to combat gender imbalance within the tech industry. Over 30 Puget Sound technology companies, including Microsoft, Expedia, Zillow, Amazon, Redfin, and Nordstrom, have sponsored Ada interns already.
