Advanced Broadband Services from Mediacom Business Power the Iowa Events Center
Des Moines, IA (PRWEB) August 06, 2015 -- While Elvis may have left the building in 1956; the Iowa Events Center (IEC) is still rocking because of the Gigabit+ Fiber Solutions™ provided by Mediacom Business, a division of Mediacom Communications Corporation.
As a multi-venue convention center and entertainment complex, the IEC can have a variety of live events taking place simultaneously, including concerts, sporting events, conventions, trade shows, and even weddings, according to Spectra Venue Management’s Chris Connolly, General Manager of the Iowa Events Center.
“Because we host live events, oftentimes simultaneously, we must be prepared to meet a variety of specific broadband requirements,” Mr. Connolly said. “Literally thousands of exhibitors and patrons may all be sending, receiving, and sharing messages, pictures, and videos during our events.”
“Prior to partnering with Mediacom Business, we didn’t have the scalability to adjust or increase our broadband capacity the day of an event,” stated Mr. Connolly. “Instead, we had to rely on a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach to our broadband needs, which wasn’t an optimal way to run our business,” he continued. “Working with Mediacom Business has given us the peace of mind to know we’ll meet or exceed the broadband needs of exhibitors and patrons.”
Angela Connolly, Chairperson of the Polk County Board of Supervisors, acknowledged that because the IEC is a state of the art multi-venue convention center and entertainment complex with cutting edge technology, Des Moines has become a sought-after location for national and regional events.
“When we have trade shows, sporting events, and concerts going on at the Iowa Events Center, this equates to more heads in the beds at area hotels and busy restaurants,” stated Ms. Connolly. “The more shows that happen, the more positive economic impact that results throughout the entire metro area, and that is good for everybody.”
Dan Templin, Senior Vice President of Mediacom Business, said Mediacom is committed to being an economic driver in the communities it serves by providing high-capacity broadband over their proprietary fiber-optic network. “Businesses can thrive and grow not only domestically, but internationally as well, with access to our Gigabit+ Fiber Solutions,” Mr. Templin said.
“Mediacom Business understands the need for the IEC to be competitive in attracting trade shows, sports, and entertainment events to Des Moines, and the resulting positive economic effect these events have on the entire metro area,” continued Mr. Templin. “By having Gigabit+ Fiber Solutions technology in place, the Iowa Events Center is on the map as a preferred destination.”
