Advanced Healthcare Facility Opens in Cary, NC
Cary, NC (PRWEB) June 18, 2017 -- Carolina Holistic Medicine opened its new office in Cary, NC Friday. The new location will bring Functional Medicine to the Cary-Raleigh area, and will focus on treating patients who suffer from ailments often undiagnosed by conventional doctors, including hormonal imbalances, Lyme Disease and Chronic Fatigue.
Carolina Holistic Medicine (CHM) CEO and leading physician, Yusuf (JP) Saleeby, left conventional medicine in 2013 to focus on diagnosing and healing patients with integrative and functional medicine treatments and therapies.
Functional Medicine (FM) is a relatively new approach that has developed within mainstream medicine. FM challenges the method of targeting immediate symptoms, rather than the diseases that cause the problems. FM is a reform movement that is calling for a shift toward a holistic model of disease prevention and treatment based on the new scientific field of systems biology. Saleeby believes this to be the future of healthcare.
“Our focus [at Carolina Holistic Medicine] is on identification of imbalances when a patient is under stress with symptoms that are not discovered by traditional medicine,” Saleeby said. “Much of what we fix are deficiencies in nutrition, hormones, neurotransmitters and balancing lifestyles.”
Since its inception, CHM has expanded throughout South Carolina, with multiple locations in the areas of Myrtle Beach and Charleston. The third location in Cary brings Saleeby’s mission to North Carolina. Functional Medicine options are still widely unavailable in the United States, as many doctors hold to traditional practices that effectively treat trauma and emergency medical situations but fall short with chronic illnesses, like diabetes and thyroid disorders.
Many patients who suffer from chronic diseases and disorders, are misdiagnosed or undiagnosed because of the similarity of the symptoms. Particularly, Chronic Lyme symptoms mimic the symptoms of other diseases, such as Arthritis, multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue, which is a contributing factor to the rise of chronic Lyme patients.
According to the Centers for Disease Control, Lyme is one of the fastest growing diseases, infecting 10 times more Americans than reported in previous years. East Coast cases are particularly prevalent. The CDC estimates that there are 822 new Lyme cases per day in the United States, and many more go undiagnosed due to the nature of the symptoms and the inaccuracy rate of conventional tests.
In addition to the chronic disease concentration, the new office will offer other holistic medicine practices, such as genomic and predictive testing, natural hormone replacement therapy and natural thyroid healing.
“We are excited to be opening our new facility among other holistic providers where we will be able to further serve the Raleigh and Cary communities,” Saleeby said.
