The new program, called Beyond ENERGY STAR, covers advanced energy efficiency programs such as the Department of Energy Zero Energy Ready Home (DOE ZERH), the Environmental Protection Agency Indoor airPLUS (EPA IAP), net-zero energy homes, and passive building design.
"Our mission at BER is to help building professionals stay ahead of the curve in the building performance industry," said Sandy Gallo, Director of Innovation and Market Expansion for Building Efficiency Resources. "The Beyond ENERGY STAR training program provides the latest tools and knowledge to help them achieve greater energy savings and meet the growing demand for high-performance buildings."
Beyond ENERGY STAR Training is designed for HERS Raters, builders, architects, engineers, and other professionals in the building industry who are interested in advancing their skills and knowledge in federal energy efficiency programs. The training is entirely online, providing much needed flexibility for these busy professionals. In addition, the course is approved for six RESNET Professional Development Hours (PDHs) for RESNET Certified Professionals.
Students in the program will learn about the latest trends and technologies in energy efficiency, gain a comprehensive understanding of the DOE ZERH and EPA IAP programs, and learn how to certify net-zero energy homes and passive buildings through multiple programs. They will also learn how to use energy modeling tools like Ekotrope to optimize building designs and maximize the 45L Tax Credit.
