Advancing Women in Product Releases Future of Women 2020 Report Ahead of Third Annual Executive Summit 'Breaking the Cycle: Pathways to Ascending Leadership'
With nearly half of women concerned about career growth due to COVID-19, AWIP's one-day virtual summit will feature industry executives and leaders to up-level the careers of women and people of color in tech
SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 6, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Advancing Women in Product (AWIP), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization empowering women and underrepresented groups to enhance their skills and careers in senior engineering and product roles, will be hosting their third annual Executive Summit – Breaking the Cycle: Pathways to Ascending Leadership – virtually on Wednesday, October 7 beginning at 10:00 AM PST. Ahead of this year's Executive Summit, AWIP will also release their annual Future of Women report for 2020.
As the COVID-19 pandemic has drastically altered the workplace, AWIP's Future of Women 2020 report revealed that 49% of women think COVID-19 could hamper opportunities for career advancement, and 48% report difficulty searching for professional mentorship.
AWIP is holding its one-day virtual summit to support women and minorities facing these new challenges, in addition to other issues too often encountered in the technology industry, such as lack of diversity in leadership roles and lack of opportunities in career advancement. The summit will also foster professional connections and mentorships.
Through candid conversations, speakers and attendees will draw from their own experiences and knowledge to present solutions to effectively tackle these obstacles and provide insights on career advancement. Topics covered include interviewing tips for mid-senior roles, connecting female founders with investors, up-leveling technical skills to meet the demands of this new normal, and other topics that enable more women and minorities to reach their full potential.
"Despite the current circumstances, we are ecstatic to host our third annual Executive Summit virtually. We will focus on breaking the cycle that too often holds back talented professionals from reaching their career goals, as well as providing insightful and career changing dialogues for all who attend," said Nancy Wang, CEO of AWIP. "With COVID-19 putting women and minority professionals at a disadvantage and on unstable ground, it is more vital than ever to keep these conversations top of mind and develop solutions for those without work and those working remotely, who are bereft of the support and resources needed to further progress their careers."
The agenda includes breakout sessions touching on: dismantling systemic barriers, economic parity for women founders, male allyship, developing sustainable diversity recruiting strategies, and more. Featured speakers providing career and industry insights at the summit include:
