The current [wealth management] model is totally outdated and we hope to drive the industry forward through a focus on technology and delivering tangible value to our clients.

AdvicePeriod, an advisory firm built for advisors, by advisors, was honored today by Schwab Advisor Services with the 2019 Pacesetter IMPACT AwardTM. The firm was recognized for reinventing wealth management, innovating through technology, and by creating the integrated professional services firm of the future. AdvicePeriod was acknowledged at Schwab IMPACT®, the nation’s largest and longest-running annual gathering of independent advisors.

“We’re honored to be recognized for the work we are doing to reinvent wealth management,” shares Steve Lockshin, AdvicePeriod co-founder and principal. “The current model is totally outdated and we hope to drive the industry forward through a focus on technology and delivering tangible value to our clients. And we’re just getting started.”

The IMPACT Awards® are given each year to independent advisor firms that have demonstrated excellence through leadership, innovative business practices, client dedication, and fresh thinking. The categories include the Best-in-Business IMPACT Award™, the Pacesetter IMPACT Award™, the Trailblazer IMPACT Award™, and the Best-in-Retirement Business IMPACT Award™. The Pacesetter IMPACT Award pays tribute to a firm in business 10 years or less that has shown initiative, growth, and promise as well as a focused use of technology to extend its reach.

AdvicePeriod is on a mission to create what it calls the “integrated professional services firm of the future.” They have begun the process of consolidating services such as bill-pay, business management, tax preparation, private trustee services, and legal document preparation. It’s now partnering with a CPA firm that specializes in similar and has formed numerous private trust companies.

“Our clients are asking us to simplify their lives—whether it’s from a tax, wealth management, or legal perspective,” Lockshin says. “They want to have a one-stop-shop.”

As a part of the award, Schwab committed to donating $15,000 on AdvicePeriod’s behalf to the non-profit of their choice. The non-profit organization AdvicePeriod chooses to support, in the reflection of their long-standing relationship, is Harlem Lacrosse. This partnership gives the AdvicePeriod team the opportunity to impact underserved youth by providing holistic developmental programs in career, education, and through the sport of lacrosse.
