ASHEVILLE, N.C., August 01, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Aeroflow Breastpumps, a subsidiary of Aeroflow Healthcare, today announced the launch of its Second Annual Pumping Room Makeover, sponsored by Medela LLC. The contest will provide one grand prize winner with a pumping room makeover in their place of employment, bringing awareness to the importance of safe, comfortable lactation rooms for working mothers.
The contest opens August 1st in tandem with World Breastfeeding Week, and entries will be accepted throughout the entire month. Participants will be asked to submit the Pumping Room Makeover entry form along with photos of the existing or potential lactation space they are nominating. Last year, the contest received more than 550 entries, including submissions from Fortune 500 companies, family-owned businesses, hospitals, schools and military bases.
"We want to be an advocate for all breastfeeding mothers who return to work and pump three or more times a day in a cramped closet or bathroom stall," said Jennifer Jordan, director of mom & baby at Aeroflow Healthcare. "Their photos and stories are what inspired this contest, and research shows that when they feel supported, businesses see decreased turnover and increased productivity. Providing a lactation room is one of the most impactful ways an employer can show that support to new moms."
"We're thrilled to partner with Aeroflow Breastpumps for this year's pumping room makeover in support of our shared mission to ensure new moms have access to the support and resources they need to meet their breast milk feeding goals," said Melissa Gonzales, executive vice president of the Americas for Medela LLC. "Through New Moms' Healthy Returns, Medela's new single-source solution for employers, we want to shine a light on the importance of supporting mothers in the workplace by providing a private and comfortable space to pump at work, and inspire other organizations to create similar spaces to support the women in their workforce when they return to work after baby."
The top five finalists will be announced September 16th, followed by a public vote to decide the grand prize winner. All finalists will receive a gift basket with breastfeeding supplies and accessories.
