AFAR Partners with Visit Seattle for Two-day Experiential Event
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) October 24, 2013 -- AFAR is pleased to announce it has partnered with Visit Seattle to host AFAR Experiences Seattle, a two-day event taking place March 7 – 9, 2014. This will be the first domestic, weekend Experience that AFAR has curated and produced. Previous four–day, international AFAR Experiences events have taken place in Cairo, Egypt (2011); Johannesburg, South Africa (2012); and Sydney, Australia (2013).
"Seattle is truly a culturally iconic city that has not only played a huge role in the history of music, technology and our coffee culture but one that continues to be transformed by growing investment from modern-day global leaders like Amazon. We're excited to help AFAR travelers get beneath the surface of Seattle and discover the incredible richness of its storied heritage, along with its fantastic food, wine and arts scene," says Jill Greenwood, Director of AFAR Experiences. "Seattle is also one of the most naturally beautiful cities in the world: nestled next Puget Sound, Mount Rainier and Lake Washington, surrounded by lush forests and parkland, and well deserved of being called The Emerald City."
Tom Norwalk, President and CEO of Visit Seattle, says, "AFAR Experiences invites travelers beyond the survey visit for an insider's view of the world's most sought after destinations, and we're excited to partner with one of travel's most respected voices to help showcase our city."
Over the duration of the event, AFAR Experiences introduces its attendees to local influencers to whom they wouldn't typically have access, and connects them to the interesting people of that destination who are doing remarkable things – from artists, business leaders and historians to chefs, musicians and scholars. The agenda comprises speaker sessions, small-group activities to foster engagement and intimate conversation, and celebratory evening events at iconic venues.
The two-day format is likely to be attractive to curious-minded travelers looking for a shorter trip that can still deliver a meaningful and enriching experience. "This event will no doubt introduce many new attendees to the AFAR Experiences platform," adds Greenwood. "While international events require a greater time and financial commitment from our guests, this long-weekend getaway to Seattle is perfect for those wanting a unique experience closer to home, especially in one of the country's most vibrant and progressive cities."
AFAR Experiences is now accepting applications from travelers seeking a unique and authentic experience in this Pacific Northwest gem. Until December 1, an Early Discount offer of $950 per person will be available (excluding air and hotel). After December 1, the registration fee will be $1500 per person.
AFAR also announced it will host a second Experience in the fall. This four-day event, to be held in an international destination, will be announced in December 2013.
