Teacher-led interactive classes help students consolidate important concepts and skills
SAN JOSE, Calif., Aug. 30, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Afficient Academy will pilot new Review and Consolidation Classes to supplement its Afficient Math and Afficient English programs to help students strengthen important concepts and skills. Classes will be offered from the Fall 2022 to Spring 2023 academic year to North American online students of certain sites via Zoom, with the first class starting on Saturday, September 10, 2022.
A flipped learning approach will be used in Afficient Academy's Review and Consolidation classes. Flipped learning is one of the major advancements in modern education and is built on the idea that one-way lecturing is not the best use of class time. Instead, students self-learn the content BEFORE class, which frees class time for discussion, collaboration, and application of skills. In essence, a flipped class makes learning an active rather than a passive process and helps solidify students' learning.

Before the session starts, students are expected to complete the Learning Sessions of assigned skills. During each session, the instructor will lead students through the review of major concepts and skills and run interactive group discussions.
Students benefit by being active participants in learning activities, learning from their peers and instructor, and learning through multiple complementary approaches. Review and Consolidation classes may be particularly beneficial for students who would like additional motivation to make consistent progress toward their academic goals.
The academic levels of students in each school grade vary. To accommodate different levels of learning, Afficient Academy offers a variety of Review and Consolidation classes based on a student's eligibility. For example, Grade 4 Math High-Honors class covers Grade 5 math in Fall 2022, and Grade 6 math in Spring 2023. Students taking Grade 4 Math High-Honors class are expected to be ready to start Grade 5 math at the beginning of Fall 2022.
In the Fall 2022 to Spring 2023 academic year, we plan to introduce the classes to North American online students of certain sites through Zoom.
Review and Consolidation Classes will be held once per week, last one hour per class for Grade 6 and below, 1.5 hours per class for Grade 7 and 8, and 2 hours per class for Algebra 1 and above.

Expectations for students who sign up for Review and Consolidation Classes are:
- Make individual progress not slower than the progress schedule of the class
- Complete specific Learning Sessions before each class session
- Participate in classes
- Complete exercises and specific Proficiency Sessions after each class session

Fees for the Fall 2022 14-session classes vary from $240 to $480, depending on the class. As a promotion of the new program, the course fee is waived for applicants who sign up for a class or join the waiting list on or before September 10, 2022. Seats are limited for each class. Enrollment is on a first come, first served basis for qualified applicants. If enrollment for a class is less than 6, the class may be canceled. If enrollment in a class is high, additional classes may be added.
