Released as Zylo surpasses $100 billion in SaaS, cloud, and AI spend processed, new analysis draws on the industry's largest dataset of enterprise software spend
INDIANAPOLIS, Sept. 23, 2026 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- New data from Zylo, the enterprise leader in SaaS and AI spend optimization, shows spending on AI-native software like ChatGPT, Claude, and Cursor surged 334% year over year, while spending on SaaS applications with AI functionality jumped 143%.
The surge is even more pronounced inside the world's largest organizations. Among enterprises with more than 10,000 employees, AI-native spend increased 507% year over year. Meanwhile, organizations with 2,501 to 10,000 employees increased spending on SaaS applications with AI functionality 447%.
The findings come as Zylo crosses a major milestone: over $100 billion in SaaS, cloud, and AI spend processed and categorized. That scale powers Zylo's software discovery and gives it unmatched visibility into enterprise software economics, allowing clients to benchmark their spend against the industry's largest dataset — at a moment when AI is introducing an entirely new layer of cost and complexity.
"The window for treating AI spend as an experiment has closed," said D. Wayne Poole, COO of Zylo. "These costs are material, unpredictable, and distributed across the business. Enterprises need to get their arms around both sides of the equation now: what they're spending directly on AI, and how AI is changing the cost of the SaaS products they already use."
As AI Spend Grows, Getting It Under Control Becomes Critical
The rise of AI-native applications tells only part of the story. While enterprises are dramatically increasing spending on purpose-built AI tools, spending is also increasing on SaaS applications that include AI functionality.
For technology leaders, the challenge is increasingly one of visibility and control. As AI costs spread across the software portfolio, organizations need to understand what they are buying and what is driving those costs.
Zylo continues to expand its platform to address the growing complexity of SaaS and AI spend. Recent innovations include Consumption Cost Management, which unifies usage-based AI and traditional SaaS spend in a single system of record, and Zylo Clarity AI and Model Context Protocol (MCP) capabilities, which bring agentic intelligence to enterprise SaaS management.
Building on that momentum, Zylo will host the AI Spend Summit on October 29. The virtual event will bring together industry thought leaders and practitioners for an inside look at where AI costs are headed, how leading enterprises are managing them, and the unveiling of Zylo's new AI spend management solution.
