Airbus Production Hall Eyes Brighter Future with Lighting Makeover - Casambi teams with Filamento for High Tech Solutions
Airbus' Defence and Space production hall in Warsaw, Poland recently had a smart lighting upgrade. SchahlLED led the project with Filamento fixtures and Casambi controls taking on their first European co-installation. The new lighting scheme has produced fantastic results, with Airbus reporting 1.6x higher light levels at 71% energy savings, as well as noticeable improvements in worker-wellbeing and general productivity.
SANTA CLARA, Calif., Oct. 15, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- For the modernization of the hall, SchahlLED made a thorough analysis of possible solutions. In keeping with Airbus' high standards, SchahlLED as the pioneer and leader in intelligent lighting concepts, chose Casambi, the European's market leader in BLE wireless lighting controls, integrated into Filamento, the US innovator of High Bay Lighting, as the solution.
The production hall now has 150 Filamento VALTO Series 600 fixtures with Casambi-enabled devices (luminaires and sensors), divided into five groups, with a high bay presence sensor controlling each group with a light sensor under the skylight, pointing upward; this measures the daylight level and adjusts the light intensity as needed.
Additionally, the presence sensors call these scenes on movement detected in one of five areas. When no motion is detected, the light intensity automatically decreases in a linear function. All luminaries communicate wirelessly via a Bluetooth Low Energy mesh network, enabling effortless management and control. At a ceiling height of 11m, the installation effort was made easier since each fixture is only 1.85kg.
Filamento VALTO fixtures doubled the lighting intensity from 680 lux to 1075 lux. The no-glare with UGR < 15 is first for LED High bay and exceeds European industrial lighting but meets office lighting requirements. This no-glare completely transformed the environment from a typical industrial high eye fatigue lighting environment to a comfortable high-end environment. The two-way communication built into the Filamento lights allows Airbus to monitor real-time data on energy consumption.
