ALBERTVILLE, Ala., May 4, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Everyone has heard the old saying, "Go big or go home"! Well, one community in north Alabama is changing that saying to "Going big at home," as in really big! Installing over one million square feet of AstroTurf big! It's all part of a grand plan that city officials have been working on for several years that will positively impact the quality of life for the area residents.
Sand Mountain Park is a 130-acre complex that has something to offer for everyone. Approximately 1,071,200 square feet of AstroTurf® is being installed across 14 sports fields that will provide residents with a wide range of competitive opportunities. The fields will accommodate baseball, softball, football, soccer, and lacrosse.
Four baseball fields and Five softball fields will feature the AstroTurf Diamond Series. The Diamond Series includes multiple artificial turf components that have been specifically engineered to emulate the look, feel, and performance of both the grass and clay portions of a baseball field. Diamond Series turf systems from AstroTurf are well-known throughout the sport of baseball for delivering the ultimate in playability, durability, and ballpark aesthetics.
Five multipurpose fields that will be used for sports such as football, lacrosse and soccer will all be outfitted with AstroTurf's RootZone 3D3 system with Trionic®. This is AstroTurf's most popular turf due to its combination of long-lasting performance and game day good looks. The RootZone 3D3 system results in minimal infill splash and better shock absorbency, while improving safety, playability, and durability. Also included in the system is Trionic®, AstroTurf's patented new wonder-fiber. Trionic® is a blend of polyethylene and nylon fibers that is quickly revolutionizing the synthetic turf industry.

A state-of-the-art recreation center that includes an indoor walking track, multiple basketball and volleyball courts, racquetball courts, an indoor eight-lane competition pool, as well and indoor and outdoor leisure pools. As if that wasn't already enough, the park will be home to a premier amphitheater with a seating capacity of approximately 8500 with 2,000 permanent seats.
AstroTurf® will also be responsible for providing artificial turf for the landscape area around the recreational center, playgrounds, lazy river island, and ball pit areas.
