ALES GREY™ Partners with XL EXTRALIGHT® to Launch World's First Recycled Single-Piece Injection Foam Clog Made With Sustainable+.
In partnership with the manufacturer of the original lightweight foam materials developed for some of the largest foam footwear brands in the world, ALES GREY prioritizes sustainability, style and functionality with the Rodeo Drive Slip On.
LOS ANGELES, May 19, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- ALES GREY is stepping comfortably into sustainable luxury with the debut of the Rodeo Drive Slip On. Launching today, this is the first single-piece injection molded foam slip-on clog made entirely with XL EXTRALIGHT Sustainable+, a new recycled compound created by the team at XL EXTRALIGHT in Italy.
Luxury footwear isn't known for comfort, and style comes at a premium cost to the environment. Prioritizing form over function, brands leverage aesthetics and sacrifice comfort. Manufacturing of traditional footwear also involves utilizing materials and processes that are damaging to the environment on a large scale.
ALES GREY is helping to change that with the Rodeo Drive Slip On. This first of its kind, luxury single-piece injection-molded shoe is made entirely of Sustainable+. Sustainable+ is a proprietary recycled compound made from the recovery of by-products, scraps, and other production waste from factories. What would have been landfill bound transforms into the Sustainable+ foam material.
The Sustainable+, foam is made of 51% recycled materials and retains all of the physical and mechanical properties of the original foam. It saves 50% of new mineral resources and halves waste disposal. Each pair of Rodeo Drive Slip Ons sold saves a single shoe's worth of material from the landfill and saves 8,000 liters of water over the manufacturing of a single pair of traditional leather shoes.
"XL EXTRALIGHT approached us to be a part of their Difference Makers program, which aligned perfectly with our corporate ethos," said Steve Patiño, founder of ALES GREY. "The Rodeo Drive Slip On is an innovative use of this groundbreaking material that brings luxury, comfort and environmental responsibility to the forefront in footwear, and I'm unbelievably proud of this shoe."
Every pair of Rodeo Drive Slip On shoes is waterproof, breathable, and ultra-lightweight at less than a pound. The closed-cell structure of the foam ensures bacteria resistance and anti-odor protection. Ventilation slits along the inner medial side of the midsole offer style and function.
Manufactured and designed in Le Marche, Italy, in the Finproject S.p.A. factories powered with solar energy, these slip-ons are a modern and sophisticated redesign of traditional injection-molded footwear available on the market. Rodeo Drive Slip Ons are available in Nero Black, Chalk White, Mastice Grey and Truffle Brown colorways in unisex sizing.
Estimated to retail for $158 USD , the Rodeo Drive Slip On is available for pre-order, for as low as $88 USD by visiting pr.go2.fund/rodeo.
