Aliens Welcome! - New study probes into the psyche of alien enthusiasts
According to a study by PsychTests.com, the majority of people believe there is life on other planets. However, alien enthusiasts are not just UFO and Area 51 obsessed - they are also open to the idea of ghosts, reincarnation, and other paranormal phenomena.
MONTREAL, Oct. 19, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Every ancient and modern human has looked up at the stars and wondered, "Are we alone?" Alien and UFO enthusiasts are often portrayed as being "a few stars short of a galaxy," but not all believers are the Area-51-storming kind. A recent study by the psychometric experts and researchers at PsychTests.com indicates that people who believe in extraterrestrials are also open-minded about other paranormal phenomena, suggesting a growing interest in exploring and demystifying the unknown.
Of the 3,684 people who took PsychTests' Paranormal Beliefs Test, 71% strongly believe that there is life on other planets, 45% are convinced that governments are hiding proof of alien existence, and 43% think that aliens have either already landed on Earth or will do so in the future.
HERE'S WHAT ELSE PSYCHTESTS' ANALYSIS OF ALIEN ENTHUSIASTS REVEALED:
- 26% of the alien enthusiasts have college or university degree.
- 15% claim to have already seen an alien or UFO.
- 22% meditate at least once a week.
- 57% experience lucid dreams on at least some occasions.
- 74% believe in a god or other divine entity.
- 66% believe in the existence of angels.
- 36% are sure that the Loch Ness Monster is real.
- 61% believe in reincarnation.
- 74% have faith that there is life after death.
- 67% assume that we all have past lives.
- 86% believe ghosts exist.
- 58% think that the lost city of Atlantis was real.
- 45% feel that many Big Foots are out there somewhere.
- 60% believe in the ability to communicate telepathically.
- 69% are convinced that the Bermuda Triangle is a location with special dangers.
- 72% are sure that there are some people have the ability to receive premonitions or prophecies.
- And nearly a quarter of the sample (24%) would be uneasy about staying on the 13th floor of a hotel.
"The belief that there is life on other planets has been around since time immemorial. However, as space exploration has become far more advanced, it almost seems illogical not to believe," explains Dr. Ilona Jerabek, president of PsychTests. "Astronomers estimate that there are billions of solar systems in the Milky Way galaxy, and images from the Webb telescope demonstrate that the universe is really mind-blowingly ginormous. The idea that we are the only planet to support life in such a vast universe doesn't really make sense, and almost seems a little naïve - or perhaps even arrogant. This is why the majority of people hold on strongly to the belief that extraterrestrials are real. It seems impossible that we are alone in the universe, and it's something most people simply refuse to accept."
"When we think of alien enthusiasts, what often comes to mind is a bunch of quirky Star Wars fans wearing tin-foil hats, posting blurry pictures of alleged UFOs on online forums while furiously typing conspiracy theories about Area 51. The fact is many studies indicate that believers now outnumber non-believers. And these believers are not just alien enthusiasts, they are also open to the idea of other paranormal phenomena, including the supernatural and the possibility of our consciousness surviving death. As a whole, we are becoming much more open-minded, curious, and eager to tear down the veil that separates us from the unknown."
