BRADFORD, Pa., June 26, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Allegheny National Forest in Northwestern Pennsylvania was recently ranked second on the top ten list of camping destinations in the United States, by Hipcamp.com – a website where campers can find public and private sites around the country.

Covering over 513,000 acres the Allegheny National Forest includes land in McKean, Forest, Elk and Warren counties and is known for its scenic beauty and has numerous recreation opportunities, including hiking, biking, fishing, cycling and water sports.
With 15 campgrounds, and more than 1,000 sites, the Allegheny National Forest is home to four reservoir campgrounds, surrounding the Allegheny Reservoir, six non-reservoir campgrounds, as well as, dispersed camping in undeveloped areas.
Each developed campsite in the Allegheny National Forest comes equipped with a picnic table, fire pit or grill, accommodation parking for two vehicles. Campsites along the Allegheny Reservoir include Willow Bay with lakefront camping in an RV, tent, rustic cabins and boat launch. Also, canoe, kayak and paddle boat are available to rent for a day on the water.
Red Bridge, known for their excellent fishing is located nine miles northwest of Kane, Pennsylvania, along Route 321, on the eastern shore of Kinzua Bay and offers tent, RV and new full-service cabin rentals. Dewdrop and Kiasutha campgrounds have lakefront camping and boat launches as well.

Other spots that made the list include the Finger Lakes in New York, Ozark National Forest in Arkansas and the Blue Ridge Parkway which spans Virginia, North Carolina and Tennessee.
