Alliance Coal Awards College Scholarships to Employees' Children

Since the program's founding, 235 scholarship recipients and their selected teachers have received $468,500 from the Alliance Coal Scholars Program.

TULSA, Okla., Sept. 2, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Alliance Resource Partners, L.P. (NASDAQ: ARLP) this week announced that college scholarships were awarded to 15 remarkable graduates. In addition, five teachers were selected by the top-ranked students to receive teacher recognition awards.

The Alliance Coal Scholars Program grants scholarships to employees' daughters and sons pursuing postsecondary education in college and vocational school programs. The graduates' academic achievements are recognized, as well as their contributions to the community and leadership in school activities.

It’s a privilege to honor our 15 exceptional scholars with these awards. The Alliance Coal community congratulates these students, as well as their parents and teachers. We extend our support and excitement as these bright students venture on to future successes.

Renewable scholarships of $2,000 are awarded to the top five graduates. Ten $1,000 scholarships are awarded to the next highest-ranking candidates. Founded in 1997, the program has awarded $468,500 in scholarships to 235 students. An additional $41,500 has been granted to their exemplary teachers.

As Alliance Coal recognizes the achievements of these graduates and contributes to their continuing education, the Scholars Program helps to identify and cultivate top talent for the future.

The top five students, awarded $2,000 renewable scholarships, are:

Brooke Anderson, graduate of Wheeling Park High School in Wheeling, West Virginia, daughter of Eric Anderson, employed by Tunnel Ridge, LLC. Brooke will major in multimedia journalism and musical theatre or secondary education math at Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Florida.

Rachel Carver, graduate of Madisonville North Hopkins High School in Madisonville, Kentucky, daughter of Jonathan Carver, employed by Warrior Coal, LLC. Rachel will major in business management, engineering, or architecture at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Dylan Davis, graduate of Union County High School in Morganfield, Kentucky, son of John Davis, employed by River View Coal, LLC. Dylan will major in psychology at Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky.

Shelby Lindy, graduate of Castle High School in Newburgh, IN, daughter of Stephanie Lindy, employed by Matrix Design Group, LLC. Shelby will major in biology at the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville, Indiana.

Rachel Sorge, graduate of St. Clairsville High School in St. Clairsville, Ohio, daughter of John Sorge, employed by Alliance Coal, LLC. Rachel will major in exercise physiology at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.

The scholars receiving $1,000 awards are:

Ellison Anthis, graduate of Princeton Community High School in Princeton, Indiana, daughter of John Anthis, employed by Gibson County Coal, LLC. Ellison will major in nursing at the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville, Indiana.

Lillian Daniel, graduate of Webster County High School in Dixon, Kentucky, stepdaughter of Chad Daniel, employed by River View Coal, LLC. Lillian will major in criminal justice at the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky.

Joshua Guess, graduate of Madisonville North Hopkins High School in Madisonville, Kentucky, son of Donald Guess, employed by CR Services, LLC. Joshua will major in computer engineering at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky.

Abbey Hannah, graduate of Magoffin County High School in Salyersville, Kentucky, daughter of Robert Hannah, employed by Excel Mining, LLC. Abbey will major in biomedical science at Morehead State University in Morehead, Kentucky.

Evelyn Khong, graduate of Atherton High School in Louisville, Kentucky, daughter of Jimmy Khong, employed by Matrix Design Group, LLC. Evelyn will major in bioengineering at the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky.

Kennedy McCullough, graduate of F.J. Reitz High School in Evansville, Indiana, daughter of Steven McCullough, employed by Alliance Coal, LLC. Kennedy will major in fashion merchandising and management at Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri.

Gracie Money, graduate of Gibson Southern High School in Fort Branch, Indiana, daughter of Craig Money, employed by Matrix Design Group, LLC. Gracie will major in biochemistry at Indiana University Bloomington in Bloomington, Indiana.

Cole Neeley, graduate of Grayville High School in Grayville, Illinois, son of Marc Neeley, employed by Gibson County Coal, LLC. Cole will major in physical therapy at the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville, Indiana.

Jessi Perry, graduate of Martin County High School in Inez, Kentucky, stepdaughter of William Mann, employed by Alliance Coal, LLC. Jessi will major in biology at Big Sandy Community and Technical College in Prestonsburg, Kentucky.

Caitlyn Riley, graduate of Crittenden County High School in Marion, Kentucky, daughter of David Belt, employed by River View Coal, LLC. Caitlyn will major in medical laboratory technology at West Kentucky Community and Technical College in Paducah, Kentucky.

The Alliance Coal Teacher Achievement Awards celebrate the dedication and guidance that teachers provide. Each of the top five scholarship recipients selected an elementary, junior-high, or senior-high teacher to receive the $500 award.

Teachers receiving this year's awards are: Sara Myser of St. Clairsville High School in St. Clairsville, Ohio; Tina Payton of Madisonville North Hopkins High School in Madisonville, Kentucky; Craig Schlemmer of Castle High School in Newburgh, Indiana; Lucas Shepherd of Wheeling Park High School in Wheeling, West Virginia; and Nathan Tanner of Union County High School in Morganfield, Kentucky.
