Allied Environmental Services, Inc. Holds 12th Annual "Safety Day" Event
Allied Environmental Services, Inc. (Allied), one of the Great Lakes Region's premier environmental contracting firms, recently conducted its 12th annual "Safety Day" safety training event.
LIMA, Ohio, March 15, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Ohio-based Allied Environmental Services, Inc. has provided specialized industrial maintenance and environmental contracting services to private industry and public entities for more than 34 years. The Safety Day event was held at the Allied headquarters facility on February 11-12, 2021, and included both classroom and hands-on training for all company employees. According to Stephanie Neal, Allied's Corporate Safety Manager, the company's annual Safety Day events began over a decade ago and have grown each year.
"We actually decided to expand the event to two full days of training this year to include all necessary topics and make sure everyone received hands-on training with our equipment," stated Neal. Neal added, "Our field crews work in some dangerous environments. Every day we have crews in confined spaces, handling hazardous materials and working at height. Every team member needs to be conscious of the hazards in their work area and proper safety training is the foundation."
The training sessions included defensive driving, confined space entry and rescue, fall protection, lock-out/tag-out, lift operation, vac truck and hydro blaster operation, and other topics. The company also invited safety professionals from regional industrial manufacturing facilities to participate and present training topics.
"Having our customers and other professionals in to talk about safety practices and issues in their facilities helps a lot," said Neal. "We get to learn about the safety challenges and expectations from the facility operator's point of view." According to Neal, the Covid-19 pandemic presented some challenges in executing the training, as the company ensured that all Covid-19 protocols and recommendations were strictly adhered to. "We split into small groups for social distancing and masks were mandatory," Neal stated. "Overall we had a safe and effective event and we are already planning new things for next year," she added.
