KENSINGTON, N.H., Oct. 6, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Alnoba Lewis Family Foundation announced that the 2021 recipients of the Alnoba CEO Environmental Leadership Award are Rebecca Hamilton and Emily Schwerin-Whyte, CEOs, W.S. Badger & Co.
The Alnoba CEO Environmental Leadership Award was established to support, inspire and recognize business leaders who help save the earth we share.
Rebecca and Emily are second-generation owners/CEOs of W.S. Badger & Co. and daughters of founder, Bill Whyte. The two worked alongside their father guiding operations and strategic planning before taking on their roles as CEOs in 2018. They believe that the company's impact on the environment and communities is a critical measurement of their success.
W.S. Badger & Co. makes over 100 organic and natural products in environmentally friendly manufacturing facilities that are sold in 20 countries. In the last year, the company has installed enough solar panels to offset 150% of their operating demand. W.S. Badger & Co. also incorporated sustainability initiatives such as water reduction and plastic free packaging for all of their products.
Rebecca and Emily are long-time advocates of ethical business and social justice policies around climate change and fair minimum wage. Together they actively lobbied for state's public benefit corporation legislation; Safe Cosmetics legislation, which is currently unregulated.
"Our company philosophy flows from the ground up, beginning with our relationship to the grounds that support our building and the landscapes that supply our ingredients," said Hamilton and Schwerin-Whyte. "We walk through these spaces gratefully, respectfully, and always with our footprints in mind."
The Alnoba Environmental Leadership Awards were launched in 2018 to honor brave and brilliant leaders whose courage, wisdom or potential inspire us to act more boldly for environmental justice. A new series of awards for Gender Equity Leadership was launched in 2021, the first award being the Alnoba Moment of Truth Award. In 2007, in partnership with the Boston Business Journal, the CEO Social Leadership Award was established to recognize a CEO in greater Boston who exemplifies corporate citizenship.
Each award includes a $10,000 donation in the recipient's name to the nonprofit of their choice.
The awards will be presented at the Alnoba Environmental Leadership Awards Dinner on October 13, 2021 in partnership with ReVision Energy, UNH Sustainability Institute, Citizens Count, Conservation Law Foundation and other leading environmental nonprofits.
