Over our 25-year history, a key strategy to achieve the highest performance levels across every client supply chain program has been to reinforce an inclusive and diverse company culture that empowers each staff member to flourish and grow. -- ALOM President and CEO Hannah Kain

ALOM, the global supply chain management company, won the Achieving Excellence Through Cultural Transformation category and received the Highest Achiever trophy at the 18th annual 2022 Manufacturing Leadership Awards Gala by the National Association of Manufacturers’ (NAM) Manufacturing Leadership Council (MLC). The Highest Achiever award was presented to ALOM as the company that scored highest in its category.

“This is a tremendous honor for ALOM and our exceptionally talented and dedicated workforce,” said ALOM President and CEO Hannah Kain, who is also a NAM Board Member. “Over our 25-year history, a key strategy to achieve the highest performance levels across every client supply chain program has been to reinforce an inclusive and diverse company culture that empowers each staff member to flourish and grow. This has been critically important, especially over the past 18 months by allowing ALOM to recruit the best talent in a highly competitive labor market.”

The live award event concluded Rethink: The Manufacturing Leadership Council Summit, at the JW Marriott Marco Island Beach Resort in Florida June 27–29.

MLC recognized ALOM for its achievements in developing a highly engaged workforce by emphasizing its inclusive, values-driven corporate culture as a competitive differentiator. A cornerstone of this culture is its DOING initiative, which stands for Development, Opportunity, INclusion, and Growth. DOING ensures that ALOM’s ideology and core values are delivered at every touch point of employee engagement – recruiting, developing, training, rewarding, and empowering its workforce – and that this is replicated in new locations as the company expands. Instead of combatting employee loss, ALOM has been able to focus on upskilling and expansion. In 2021, ALOM increased its workforce headcount by 70 percent with a six percent decrease in employee attrition, and a 65 percent reduction in recruitment days to fill open positions.

The DOING initiative is part of a multi-year strategy advanced by ALOM’s top management to be an Employer of Choice. By investing early in best practices to build an enduring and motivated workforce, the company has been able to fulfill customer programs with 100 percent on-time accuracy even through times of extreme supply chain disruption and stress. It withstood the employee shortage brought about first by the pandemic, and then the “Great Resignation,” a movement triggered by the cascading effects of COVID-19 that spurred employees to leave their jobs or exit the workforce entirely.

In a further affirmation of ALOM’s employee oriented culture, ALOM staff voted the company a 2022 Top San Francisco Bay Area Workplace for the 9th consecutive year for its commitment to staff development and rapid onboarding through ALOM University, a training and learning management resource that provides access to vast online training and skills development content supporting customizable upskilling and professional development objectives.

In congratulating the winners at the event, Manufacturing Leadership Council Co-Founder, Vice President and Executive Director David R. Brousell said, “Manufacturers continue to be the driving force for global economic recovery and pandemic response as they establish innovative ways to problem-solve in an increasingly complex environment. Those recognized tonight have helped establish a roadmap for the future of the sector and highlight the importance of Manufacturing 4.0.”

The Manufacturing Leadership Awards honor manufacturing companies that are shaping the future of the industry through digital transformation.
