Hosted on Altamira.art, The Pink Bison Prize competition will be awarded to the artist with the most exceptional artwork on the community-focused platform. Altamira will allow the Altamira community to upvote their favorite pieces, leave critiques, and buy artwork. In the spirit of democratizing art, finalists will be selected through a voting process open to all artists, critics, and collectors on the platform. Through a comment section forum, the community will be able to provide their thoughts and feelings on specific artworks.
In total, 20 finalists will be selected January 1, 2023 in two ways: 10 artists with the most total votes across all of their work, and 10 artists with the most votes on an individual work from 2022. Juried by 10 internationally-acclaimed art critics and artists including John Dalton, John Crowther, and Ed Goldman, the award will be presented to the winner in an online ceremony broadcasted internationally February 1, 2023.

Altamira's platform provides freedom for artists to control pricing and profitability. Artists pay most galleries a 50% commission on every artwork the gallery sells, whereas Altamira's commission is just 10%.

As Werfel astutely points out, Profusion is influenced by the work of Joan Mitchell. Yet its suggestions of figuration, distinguishes it from Mitchell's paintings. The bursts of color are strongly reminiscent of flowers in bloom, but to objectively describe them as such would do a disservice to Werfel's abstract prowess.
