Ellen served as an Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) in the Civil Divisions for the Southern District of New York and the Northern District of California from 2010-2020, working on high-profile and precedent-setting government investigations and litigation.

As an AUSA, Ellen handled high-stakes matters involving a wide range of subject areas including the False Claims Act, the Financial Institutions Reform, Recovery, and Enforcement Act, the Anti-Kickback Statute, the Freedom of Information Act, the Administrative Procedure Act, constitutional law, tax and bankruptcy, torts, and appeals. Ellen was on the trial team in the Bank of America FIRREA matter, and one of the lead government counsel in the recent Wells Fargo sales practices investigation, which resulted in a $3 billion settlement.

Ellen received numerous commendations at the Department of Justice, including a Director’s Award for Superior Performance as an Assistant United States Attorney, and the Award for Excellence from the Council of the Inspector General on Integrity and Efficiency.

Before serving as an AUSA, Ellen practiced corporate litigation in New York City. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in dance and history from Cornell University and a law degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
