AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 23, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- ALTR, developer of the most advanced data governance and protection technology on the market, announced the appointment of Brian Stoner as the company's new Vice President of Channels and Alliances. Stoner will lead the company's efforts to bring its data-security platform to a wider global market through discrete partnerships, and focused vertical and sector-specific sales strategies. He comes to ALTR with more than two decades experience in the telecommunications and cybersecurity industries, having served in key leadership positions in sales, business development, distribution channels and alliances with AT&T, CA Technologies, McAfee, FireEye, and Cylance.
"As companies look for solutions to address their critical data-protection needs, and better serve and manage the complex demands for data access governance and compliance, ALTR's channel partners and alliances within the enterprise community will play a growing and critical role in supporting these imperatives," said Dave Sikora, CEO at ALTR. "Brian offers experience and perspective to ALTR which will be critical as we continue to bring new partners on board and offer them the support they need to keep critical data assets safe and secure."
The news follows the recent appointment of software industry veteran Jim Brzezinski to vice president of sales, and news that ALTR has teamed up with Q2 to integrate the ALTR data-security platform as a core technology for providing Q2's banking and lending firm customers with greater control over data access, governance and protection.
"Until now the focus of security has been securing networks, endpoints, and applications in an effort to protect sensitive data. ALTR's innovation and powerful solutions provide visibility and control that have never been available in protecting data in the database. There are multiple examples where breaches could have been prevented both from insiders and from outside bad actors. ALTR is a visionary and a true market leader and I am pleased to be part of a world-class team," said Stoner.
Stoner will build on ALTR's existing success with world-class IT solutions integrators, including the relationship with partners like Sirius Computer Solutions, Inc. to offer the ALTR data-security solution as a managed service and deliver industrial-strength managed capabilities to clients of application management and outsourcing providers. As key players in ALTR's multi-pronged distribution ecosystem, these firms deliver proactive threat assessment and advisory services, expert implementation, and comprehensive outsourced management of technology solutions and infrastructure.
Stoner continued, "Managed security providers have emerged as a growth engine for security solution developers as they combine their expertise and their knowledge of their clients' data security and IT infrastructure with new value-added data-protection services. MSPs and MSSPs will be able to bundle the ALTR solutions in order to provide superior outcomes, and that is what customers are looking for from their providers. We will also be delivering innovative new partner programs that will go well beyond the old precious-metal channel programs of the past to better support partners."
ALTR has developed a new approach to safeguard data, called programmable data security, that embeds governance and at-rest protection natively into applications as an outgrowth of the movement to implement security inside the development cycle rather than as an afterthought by IT.
Leveraging highly scalable smart database drivers, the ALTR platform allows developers to embed data monitoring, governance, and at-rest protection into the source code itself, and then hand over management directly to security and compliance teams. This model means applications are more portable, and easier to implement and maintain than applianceware and outdated perimeter systems, and is further supported by ALTR's built-for-purpose private blockchain technology that enables trusted data access and governance, as well as data protection itself.
About ALTR
ALTR is the first provider of programmable data security, which embeds data monitoring, governance, and at-rest protection natively into application code to provide a dramatically more effective, more portable, simpler data-security model. Using a smart database driver or API that serves as a single integration point, ALTR makes it possible for development teams to place security into the critical path of data and hand off management of governance and protection policy to security and compliance teams. Further supported by private blockchain to provide integrity to data access auditing and protected data itself, it is a completely portable approach that neutralizes data access risks from even the most privileged users while accelerating innovation and reducing the cost and complexity of data security. ALTR, which holds 21 issued and allowed patents and has more than 30 patents pending, is based in Austin.
