RESTON, Va., Feb. 22, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Altruista Health today announced it will partner with the National MLTSS Health Plan Association in 2019 and contribute its expertise to the organization's policy advisory council. The association is made up of managed care plans that deliver high-value, quality managed long-term services and supports (MLTSS) for state Medicaid programs and beneficiaries. Altruista counts member plans Commonwealth Care Alliance and the Visiting Nurse Service of New York as current clients.
Altruista Chief Medical Officer Munish Khaneja, MD, will join the association's policy advisory council to support development of legislative and regulatory strategy. As Altruista's lead for clinical innovation, Dr. Khaneja brings a long track record in regulatory innovation and clinical strategy to the table. Among his innovations are models for optimizing pharmacy management and medical management.
"The National MLTSS Health Plan Association relies on real-world understanding from industry partners and integrated health plans to shape strategically sound policy recommendations," said the association's executive director, G. Lawrence Atkins. "We are delighted to have the support of Altruista and the insights of Dr. Khaneja at a time when the opportunity to innovate is so promising and critical to our mission."
Altruista Health has its roots in managing medically complex populations and now manages one in five Medicaid beneficiaries in the United States on the GuidingCare® platform, which seamlessly brings together all the information needed for comprehensive care plans that serve vulnerable members.
"The experience Altruista has to contribute about serving these populations is invaluable," said John G. Lovelace, president of government programs for UPMC, an association plan. "Whenever we can draw on the lessons learned by others, we enhance the lives and health of our beneficiaries."
Dr. Khaneja agreed that the partnership comes at a good time.
"We are pleased to be working with this influential organization," Dr. Khaneja said. "The industry is making inroads in managing MLTSS care, but the need is still so great for solutions that are cost-effective and lead to better health outcomes."
GuidingCare integrates preventive and acute care, chronic disease management, behavioral health, long-term care and community services. The platform also integrates with a leading social search-and-referral platform, allowing payers to connect members to social services at the moment a need is identified.
