Solar trough inspections - Working with the Federal Department of Energy’s (DOE) National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), ATI and Northwest Aero Pix have developed the world's first aerial inspection system for analyzing the accuracy and efficiency of parabolic solar collectors. Named the Distant Observer, this project spanned many years and required multiple field tests at our nation’s largest concentrated solar array installations. Thanks to the hard work done at NREL and the advancements in UAS technology, this tool is now being taken to market and will be used to improve the efficiency of the world’s largest solar power plants.
ATI designed a helicopter using the best technology available from Air Star International, DJI, and Photohigher to withstand the frequent high winds, scorching temperatures, and dusty conditions that are commonly found at these concentrated solar installations.
360 video - In a year of amazing changes and technological breakthroughs, there is perhaps no project more exciting than the launch of 360Heros. Entrepreneur and inventor Michael Kintner successfully designed the world’s first fully spherical video camera system, utilizing an array of GoPro cameras mounted to a 3D printed mount. If 360° video is not exciting enough, imagine what can be produced when you mount this system to a stabilized multi-rotor helicopter. ATI partnered up with 360Heros to take this technology to the skies and offer everyone an entirely new way to view their world.
