In 2005, proprietors Nigel Lythgoe and Ken Warwick began the pursuit of turning their long-held dream of owning a vineyard into a reality. Once childhood friends in the backstreets of Liverpool, the Emmy® award-winning pair would grow up to produce the primetime hit, American Idol. Ken and Nigel purchased and began redevelopment of an old-vine property located at the northern edge of the Paso Robles area. Over ten years later, Villa San-Juliette has emerged as a premier wine destination on the Central Coast.
"When we got to Paso Robles we were immediately impressed by the abundance and beauty of the vineyards there, and decided to look into the possibility of buying and creating our very own," said Ken Warwick. "We found a property that had beautiful views and location & decided to demolish the existing house that was there and re-build a Tuscan Style tasting room and winery.
With our extended experience of aesthetics and set design from our 50 years in the television business, we were very adamant about the style of the buildings and the atmosphere we wanted to create. It was a long hard and expensive process, but we eventually created our dream vineyard"
Led by winemaker Dan Smith, the award-winning wines of VSJ consistently receive the very highest ratings and accolades. The vineyard can produce an impressive 30,000 cases a year. Equipment is state-of-the-art.
The 160-acre estate consists of two Tuscan-style villas (6 bedrooms total) that are on the side of the expansive tasting room, pool, lush sprawling lawns and gardens with panoramic views, which serve as the ideal venue for special events such as weddings and retreats.
