American Physician Partners Selected as Emergency Department and Hospitalist Provider for Tennova Healthcare Hospitals

BRENTWOOD, Tenn., Aug. 20, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Officials with American Physician Partners (APP) are pleased to announce that the company has been selected as the emergency medicine and hospital medicine management provider for Tennova Healthcare, one of Tennessee's largest health networks.
Under its ONE-APP emergency medicine and hospital medicine integrated model, APP will provide both service lines at the following Tennova facilities throughout Tennessee:
- Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Jefferson City
- Newport Medical Center, Newport
- North Knoxville Medical Center, Powell
- Tennova Healthcare – Clarksville, Clarksville
- Tennova Healthcare – Cleveland, Cleveland
- Tennova Healthcare – Harton, Tullahoma
- Turkey Creek Medical Center – Knoxville
APP will also provide services for the Tennova Sango free-standing emergency department in Clarksville and will provide management services for the ICUs at Tennova Healthcare - Clarksville, North Knoxville Medical Center and Turkey Creek Medical Center.
To ensure a smooth transition and continuity of patient care, APP will initiate services in a staggered timeline. Services at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Newport Medical Center, and Tennova Healthcare – Harton started smoothly on Sunday, August 4, and services at the rest of the facilities will go live through the coming months. APP has already been providing the emergency department and hospitalist management services for Tennova Healthcare – Shelbyville in Shelbyville, Tennessee, since 2014.
APP utilizes a dyad leadership model to oversee the day-to-day clinical and business operations of its client hospitals. This team consists of a regional medical director (RMD) and a regional vice president (RVP) with former hospital leadership experience. Joel Parker, M.D., FACEP, has been hired to serve as the RMD for the Tennova facilities. Prior to joining APP, Dr. Parker served as systems medical director for Franciscan Health Crawfordsville, Franciscan Health Lafayette East, and Franciscan Health Rensselaer in Indiana. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree with honors from Meharry Medical College in Nashville and conducted his emergency medicine residency at University of Louisville Health Sciences Center, a level I trauma center. Board certified in emergency medicine, Dr. Parker is a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians.
Greg Nielsen, MHA, FACHE, has been hired to serve as the RVP for the Tennova facilities. A fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, Greg has enjoyed a long-standing career as a senior healthcare executive in both the non-profit and investor-owned sectors. He has served as divisional president of RCCH HealthCare Partners and CEO for CMH Regional Health System, Great Plains Health, Holy Rosary Healthcare, Weston County Health Services of Regional Health, and Mountainview Medical Center. Greg earned his master's degree in Healthcare Administration from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities.
