American Advanced Practice Network – the first and only national network of Nurse Practitioners leveraging CareSpan’s Integrated Digital Care platform in partnership with the National Nurse Practitioner Entrepreneur Network (NNPEN), the only nationwide organization dedicated to bringing NP business owners and the resources they need together for success – is launching two unique inaugural Business Accelerator Programs, designed to assist new members in growing their business. The American-APN Academy is the premier provider of online learning opportunities, forums, tools and apprentice guided practicums designed to accelerate the growth and business performance of its network members. The Academy, in the Greek sense of that word, is an association of scholar-practitioners. The Academy incorporates both academic and practical intelligence into its education, research and practice initiatives, designed to foster rapid, high-performance entry into autonomous practice.

Learning begins by creating a Work Plan: aspects of running a business, marketing and community engagement, expanding services such as Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM). This is followed by 3-6 months of real-time apprenticeship to execute the plan, assisting with business acceleration until the practice achieved a desired level of maturity.

For NPs whose dream of owning a practice is not yet a reality, the American-APN/NNPEN Business Basics 1 Accelerator Program offers a comprehensive introduction to business through a 12-week curriculum. During this time the NP completes a business plan, market analysis, develops a budget, and identifies the practice model right for their businesses. During the next year under the mentorship of an experienced American-APN business owner they open a practice prepared to be successful.

Melissa Magstadt, President American-APN states, "American-APN members are pleased to offer an apprentice program of supporting and guiding our new practice partners to shorten their time from novice to expert. For those who have not yet launched a practice, we have established a partnership with the National Nurse Practitioner Entrepreneurs Network (NNPEN). NNPEN’s parallel Coaching Program is also focused on practice growth. Course participants are able to share ideas, insights and innovations to strengthen autonomous practice in both programs.”

“NNPEN is excited to partner with American-APN to further entrepreneurial development of NP-owned practices,” states CEO Sandy Berkowitz. “With the use of innovative technology such as the CareSpan Integrated Network infrastructure, combined with increasing number of NP’s in the field, expanded access to high quality care for all is created. Synergistic partnerships, such as this joint effort with American-APN, coupled with COVID-19’s game changing utilization of advanced technology, are the keys to the future of healthcare.”
