American Insurance Agencies Initiates Charity Drive to Provide a Service Dog to a Local Youth Diagnosed with Autism
St Louis, MO (PRWEB) July 17, 2015 -- American Insurance Agencies, a full service insurance firm with offices serving Chesterfield, Troy, and the St Louis Area, has announced a new charity initiative aimed at dramatically improving the life and well-being of Nick, a local eight year old boy who suffers from autism. Funds gathered from this charity drive will be used to purchase Nick a professionally trained service dog.
Autism is the fastest-growing developmental disability in children, and produces a host of challenges for both autistic children and their families. Nick was diagnosed with autism at only 14 months old, and suffers from a seizure disorder that puts him at great risk of developing epilepsy in the future. Nick also suffers from apraxia, a motor disorder that inhibits his ability to communicate verbally.
Service dogs are widely recognized as effective therapeutic remedies that provide autistic children with companionship, offer emotional support, and help reduce sensory overload, a common challenge for those suffering from autism.
John Larson, the owner and operator of American Insurance Agencies, has made assisting Nick his personal mission. “We’ve always supported local charities,” says Larson, “but this case is special. Instead of going through an institution, our team is working directly with Nick’s family in an effort to ensure that he receives a service dog as soon as possible.”
In their efforts to help Nick, the American Insurance team is mobilizing a vast network of both personal and professional contacts, including friends, neighbors, clients, and business associates, to gather support for Nick’s cause. The team has also established an online presence via social media, and efforts to support Nick are now reaching out across state lines. “We’re doing everything we can, and we won’t stop until Nick has what he needs,” pledges Larson.
In addition to assisting Nick, the American Insurance Agencies team supports a wide array of charitable organizations in and around the St Louis area.
