Natural climate solutions can play an important role in mitigating climate change.
RALEIGH, N.C. (PRWEB) October 16, 2019
The Land Trust Alliance, a national land conservation organization working to save the places people need and love by strengthening land conservation across America, is convening this week in Raleigh the nation’s largest gathering of land conservation leaders.
Close to 1,800 from throughout the United States and other countries will attend Rally 2019: The National Land Conservation Conference, which begins Oct. 17 and continues through Oct. 19 at the Raleigh Convention Center. And topping the agenda – following a summer of record temperatures and extreme weather systems – is climate change.
“Natural climate solutions can play an important role in mitigating climate change,” said Andrew Bowman, the Land Trust Alliance’s president and CEO. “Land trusts can show the way by using climate-smart practices as they steward the forests, grasslands, wetlands and agricultural soils under their management.”
Bowman and other Rally 2019 speakers, including former U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Regina Benjamin and Noticias Telemundo Senior Correspondent Vanessa Hauc, will emphasize the myriad benefits land conservation yield for all people. Additionally, speakers and workshops will explore how diverse partnerships furthering land conservation benefit both land trusts and the communities they serve.
“We can take comfort in knowing that we are in the right business at the right time,” Bowman said. “But it is our responsibility to take our work to new levels of scale, effectiveness and sustainability in a very short time.”
Featuring more than 100 workshops and over a dozen seminars, Rally 2019 is the nation’s largest annual gathering of land conservation professionals. Attendees will network with their colleagues, advance their skills and work to solve some of their greatest professional challenges. More information about Rally is available at alliancerally.org.
