Dr. Spaniel is a 1991 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She did her residency at the Portland VA Medical center and moved with her husband, Adam, to Burlington, Vermont to start a private practice. After 25 years practicing dentistry in Vermont, their 4 children are grown and off to college and beyond. Dr. Spaniel and her husband have returned home to Portland.
Dr. Spaniel had the privilege to develop a practice based on genuine trust. She has the experience and expertise to perform at the highest level of quality. Dr. Spaniel takes pride in being an active member of the American Association of Oral Systemic Health. The premise that our oral health is directly related to the health of our entire body. We cannot live our best life and be at optimal health if our mouth, teeth, gums and oral tissues are inflamed and unhealthy. Understanding the individual needs of each person, how their medical history impacts their life and oral health allows her to tailor each plan of care to best fit a patient's lifestyle.
Dr. Spaniel is an active member of the American Dental Association. She serves on the board of The American Academy of Dental Practice, she is the International Healthcare director for the non-profit organization, Refugee Outreach and works in Applicant review for the Wells Foundation. Dr. Spaniel has been involved with the American Academy of Oral Systemic Health since it's inception and employs these efforts in her daily work.
Dr. Julie Spaniel has committed, in her spare time, over 27 years of her dental practice in volunteer service in Honduras, Ghana, Nicaragua and Mexico. Get to know more about her passion for serving those in the poorest regions of the world. Through partnership and collaboration with many smaller non-profits and even working by herself, Dr. Spaniel remains committed to continue her work through her transition to Oregon.
