Big Tech Comedy Roast

‘I’m not here to put big tech, or any tech, down. I use Amazon and social media myself and I work in the field. All I’m saying is, since the tech world has so much money and power, why not be transparent with all involved and use our influence for good?’ --- Vahid Razavi

Ethics in Tech and Lack Thereof by Vahid Razavi intends to encourage tech firms to use their power and influence in society for good. The book shares Razavi’s experience working both domestically and abroad as the founder of cloud computing startup BizCloud, and then as a senior manager within Amazon Web Services. His cinematic journey brought him through a visit to a Serbian mental hospital, various foreign embassies, and courtrooms during months of tense trademark litigation.

The book moves on to outline how tech firms can improve their ethical track record, especially concerning their treatment of workers, care for the environment, respect for civil liberties, and responsible stances on issues that surround emerging artificial intelligence technologies. The goal of this book is to raise public awareness of these topics in a fun, engaging way.

"Considering the daily revelations about privacy and security breaches and the ongoing surveillance and targeting of consumers, my hope is that the tech community has a sense of humility and humor. Comedy is a great way to break down barriers and educate the public at the same time. Therefore we have invited over 20 major tech firms to send representatives to the comedy night and we hope that they take this opportunity to laugh at the serious business of technology.” -- Vahid Razavi
