PALM DESERT, Calif., Feb. 7, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals, provider of educational programs and training standards for eating disorder specialists and other healthcare professionals caring for those with the full spectrum of disordered eating, proudly announces the opening day of its 33rd annual iaedp™ Symposium at the JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort in Palm Desert, California. The conference runs through February 10 with more than 900 attendees registered to attend.
The 2019 Symposium kicks-off with the start of core courses and will continue with nine keynote speakers and events as headliners, interactive workshops as well as the reveal of the "Imagine Me" mannequin art competition winners.
"The field of eating disorders is always evolving with the development of new treatment methods, new research and the complications of new policies and laws of the healthcare system," says Bonnie Harken, Managing Director of the iaedp™ Foundation. "The purpose of our Symposium has always been to provide a forum for eating disorder professionals to discuss these changes as well as to educate, network and exchange information."
The 2019 Symposium offers four days of training sessions, instructive presentations and special events. Highlights of over 60 sessions include: family involvement in eating disorders, the use of body language to interpret the relationship between exercise and eating disorder etiology and insights into the relationship of brain development and eating disorders, among many others.
Due to its extreme popularity, iaedp™ once again is offering core courses onsite at Symposium 2019. With these courses, professionals who are new to the field or do not specialize in eating disorders can receive a live and first-hand introduction to eating disorder treatment.
The 2019 Symposium also will reveal the winners of the 8th annual "Imagine Me Beyond What You See" body image mannequin art competition. Five finalists will be presented, including a Professionals Choice Award, with winners being announced and showcased at the Symposium.
For this year's Symposium, the iaedp™ Foundation once again offers its mobile app, a free interactive app that makes it easy for attendees to plan and participate at the 2019 Symposium. The app allows Symposium attendees to easily point and click on the different areas that encompass the iaedp™ annual conference event.
"We couldn't be more excited about this year's Symposium," says Harken. "With the return of core courses, record attendance and the amazing submissions for Imagine Me Art Competition, plus the renowned keynote speakers and featured workshops, the 2019 Symposium is sure to be our best yet."
