Announcing Vision Festival Twenty-One, The Creative Option
New York, NY (PRWEB) January 21, 2016 -- On June 7, 2016, Arts For Art will celebrate its 21 years of the multi-arts Free Jazz Vision Festival in New York City. The events will be held at Judson Memorial Church, 55 Washington Sq. South, New York, NY.
The one-week program will present global artists ranging from new talents to legendary artists in music, dance, visual art and poetry. Additionally, the festival will include panel discussions on the challenges faced by the art world, social responsibility and justice.
This year, Arts for Art is specially honored to acknowledge Henry Grimes with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his considerable artistic contributions. His musical genius earned him a legendary status, setting the highest standards both in mainstream and Free Jazz.
Mr. Grimes is a jazz double bassist, violinist, and poet. After over a decade of performance, he took time off from the music scene in the 1970s. He resurfaced in 2003 quickly reclaiming his place and playing nearly six hundred concerts in thirty different countries.

Patricia Nicholson Parker founded Arts for Art and the Vision Festival in the 1990s promoting and defining Free Jazz. She is an accomplished dancer, poet, producer and a social activist on a global capacity. In the 1980s, she choreographed and produced A Thousand Cranes Peace Opera with one thousand children production for the opening of the UN Special Session on disarmament.
Parker also helped organize the Sound Unity Festivals as a response to lack of visibility of Free Jazz. She has been awarded three times as producer of the year by Jazz Journalists Association and won the CMA/ASCAP Award for adventurous programming. In 2015, Parker inaugurated a new quintet, Resurrection Revolution that brings together dance, art and music.
