CARROLLTON, Texas, May 30, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- PROSHRED® Dallas/Fort Worth will be celebrating their annual "Shred Cancer" event on Saturday June 15, 2019 from 9AM to 12PM in partnership with The American Institute for Cancer Research (AICR). Community members are invited to bring their personal information to be securely shredded while simultaneously raising funds for cancer research. The event will be held at The Brookhaven Country Club at 3333 Golfing Green Dr. Farmers Branch, TX 75234.
Individuals may bring boxes of documents and files containing outdated data to one of PROSHRED® Dallas/Fort Worth's on-site shredding trucks to properly dispose of unwanted personal information. Attendees can expect to pay $5 per standard box, and are encouraged to donate more to help fund AICR's cancer research and education programs.
"Generous support from millions of individual Americans—and not government or industry grants—have allowed AICR to fund emerging research and to continue our programs for educating the public about what practical steps we all can take every day to live in a world with less cancer," said AICR Senior Vice President of Development Mary Beth Healy, "The funds raised by the PROSHRED® community makes a significant impact on the health of millions of Americans."
Angela Davis, president of PROSHRED® Dallas/Fort Worth, commented, "We are happy to have the opportunity to contribute to help AICR and help make a difference in the battle against cancer. AICR's efforts in cancer research and education has made such a large impact over the last 30 years. It is our hope that our collective efforts will raise awareness and funds for AICR. We hope to see everyone on June 15 to Shred Cancer."
Started in 2014 on National Cancer Survivors' Day, the PROSHRED® community has contributed over $176, 904.35 to cancer research. This year AICR and PROSHRED® Dallas/Fort Worth have set a goal to raise $50,000 for research.
