Antlers at Vail Hotel Reveals New Lobby Interior Design Plan as Part of the Hotel's $5M Dollar Renovation
Part of a $5-million renovation for Antlers at Vail hotel in Vail, Colorado, the planned interior design for the new expansive lobby and guest check-in experience reveals natural materials, bold color and fresh uses of the popular Vail condominium hotel's signature antlers. Vail design firm Casey St. John Interiors, working with Antlers on the remodel planned for the open of the 2019/20 ski season, is infusing luxury and flexibility into the lobby, which will include comfortable gathering space for lounging and functions, all nodding to the property's authentic Vail ski lodge styling.
VAIL, Colo., July 30, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Antlers at Vail's $5 million renovation project is in full swing with important interior selections now being made for the Vail, Colorado, condominium hotel's coming spacious new front desk, lobby and gathering space. (Check the @antlersvail Facebook page for real-time photo updates.) The major construction project, which also includes replacing and more conveniently locating the property's elevator, broke ground in April with a planned completion date to coincide with the opening of Vail's 2019/20 ski season. For help in appointing the new lobby interior in a way that will welcome guests accustomed to the hotel's Vail Valley Platinum-ranked guest units while providing the relaxed, family-friendly and personality-rich experience it's known for, Antlers turned to popular Vail design firm Casey St. John Interiors.
In visualizing the new space, the interior designers embraced Antlers at Vail's undeniable real Vail aesthetic – the original building was constructed in 1971 – and longstanding reputation for excellence. "Our design concept was to create an updated but timeless version of an authentic Vail ski lodge," says Casey St. John Interiors principal Amy Casey. To capture that vibe, the firm selected a materials palette incorporating "elements of wood, metal and stone, with sophisticated but clean-lined furnishings and a cozy, warm appeal."
The Antlers' name and its courtyard's hallmark, a life-size bronze sculpture of two battling elk, inspired some ideas for personalizing the new interiors. "In mountain resort interior design, there is a bit of a cliche associated with using antlers as decor, but we are finding fresh and creative ways to incorporate this sculptural natural element, and namesake to the property," says Casey.
Similarly, a striking color palette provides a fun and welcoming note, she explains. "We thought it was time to bring some color back into the mix. A combination of reds, blues, grays and browns, leather and rich natural textures warms things up, and the use of some bold color in this space will be memorable for guests and we think will stand the test of time."
While all Antlers at Vail guest suites include comfortable living areas, as the Antlers crew began planning for their new and improved lobby area, they began hearing from guests a desire for an alternative gathering and hang-out space. "Guests really liked the idea of Antlers providing a 'third place' communal environment that could double as a festive space for special occasions and events," says General Manager Magda King.
The Casey St. John design for the expansive new lobby space provides just the flexibility and communal spirit Antlers was looking for. "We intend to create several different seating groups within the lobby area that are geared towards both larger gatherings and intimate conversation – as well as an area that is more designated for kids," says Casey. "Our goal is to make sure this is a comfortable, casual and beautiful gathering space that guests can enjoy before and after mountain activities."
To offset any construction inconvenience while the work is underway, the Antlers at Vail is offering a Hard Hat Special that includes 30% off on stays through September 30, 2019. And in addition to scoring the rarity of Rocky Mountain summer rates starting from $175 for a one-bedroom condominium, they're literally sweetening the deal with each reservation receiving a complimentary chocolate hammer and squishy hard hat-shaped "stress reliever." The Antlers is limiting occupancy during the months of construction to ensure a positive guest experience, so advance booking is advised.
The Antlers at Vail renovation is expected to be completed by December 2019, just in time to greet winter guests with a new warm welcome.
