SEATTLE, Feb. 6, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Apex Learning, a recognized leader in online learning for secondary education, was honored by the Tech & Learning Awards of Excellence for an outstanding education technology product used in a school or district. Apex Learning Technology Courses were recognized for preparing students for the future at Wautoma High School in Wautoma, Wisconsin.
Apex Learning Technology Courses empower students to go beyond being tech users to becoming tech creators. Students use industry-standard tools to complete projects in coding, design and animation such as developing an iOS or Android app, creating a 3D video game, or designing a fashion collection.
"Students taking the Technology Courses in our district are using problem-solving and critical thinking skills—competencies that are important in preparing students for the future and are applicable to any career, whether it's in technology or not," said Wautoma High School Principal Jennifer Johnson. "It's extremely important for our school to offer this type of technology, and it's not easy for rural districts to have access to curriculum that uses industry-standard publishing tools and also provides teacher support along the way. We want our students to be well-versed in the technology requirements of the future as they go off into the world—whatever their career choices may be."
The Technology Courses include support from online experts to ensure students can successfully complete their coursework and projects. This gives districts the opportunity to offer technology courses to students even if they don't have teachers with expertise in the industry-standard tools.
"This recognition from Tech & Learning affirms the unique experience the Technology Courses provides for students to explore new skills using industry-standard tools that engage them in project-based learning; students are gaining experience that could benefit future career opportunities or post-secondary areas of study," said Jean Sharp, Chief Academic Officer, Apex Learning. "Schools and districts, like Wautoma High School, see the opportunity to utilize technology courses to provide their students with access to technology instruction that prepares them for the rapidly evolving technology they will be using in the future."
Apex Learning Technology Courses were recognized at a reception at TCEA on Wednesday, February 5.
"For 40 years, Tech & Learning has reported how edtech products are improving teaching and learning," said Christine Weiser, Tech & learning Group Publisher. "Our 2019 Awards of Excellence focuses on stand-out products that are both unique in the K-12 market and also help schools solve specific problems."
