Apex Learning continues to expand its career and technical education (CTE) course offering with a focus on providing programs of study to prepare high school students to earn certifications that lead to real-world skills and higher wage jobs they can pursue immediately upon graduation. Each CTE course offered contributes to a program of study in which students progress through introductory, intermediate and capstone courses. According to recent research, Vocational and Career Tech Education (CTE) in American High Schools: The Value of Depth Over Breadth, students who pursue upper-level CTE courses, or courses within a sequence beyond the introductory class, earn higher wages.
A new suite of honors courses across English, math, science and social studies that provide coursework for students seeking to extend their learning is being released for the 2019-2020 school year. The 13 new honors courses emphasize higher-order thinking and critical thinking skills, project-based activities, labs and extended reading to enhance the student experience.
Apex Learning is committed to meeting state-specific course requirements. Examples include a new Contemporary World course for middle school students and a Probability and Statistics course to meet fourth year math requirements.
