Apocalypse Child Author, Flor Edwards, to Appear on The Dr. Oz Show October 4, 2018
Flor Edwards, author of Apocalypse Child (Turner Publishing Company, 2018) will be appearing on the Daytime Emmy Award-winning program, The Dr. Oz Show on Thursday, October 4, 2018 where she will discuss what it was like to escape a cult whose leader convinced followers to fear that the world was ending and committed unspeakable acts against women and children.
NASHVILLE, Tenn., Oct. 5, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Flor Edwards grew up as a member of The Children of God, a controversial religious movement that many describe as an apocalyptic cult. The group's nomadic existence was based on the belief that the world would end in 1993; when Flor would have been only 13 years old.
In her interview with Dr. Oz, Edwards discusses her early childhood experiences and the struggle of assimilating into the real world after the group disbanded in 1994. "Dr. Oz and his team treated the story with the care, respect and curiosity it deserves." Edwards explains. Edwards strives to tell her story of survival in a childhood lived on the fringes in a nonjudgmental way.
Apocalypse Child, Edward's debut memoir, is a cathartic journey through her memories of growing up in a group with unconventional views on education, religion, and sex.
