ARCOS CEO joins 500 chief executives to call on all schools to add computer science curriculum for all students.
COLUMBUS, Ohio, July 19, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- ARCOS® LLC CEO Odus "Boogie" Wittenburg has joined Code.org and more than 500 of America's top industry and nonprofit leaders in signing a letter calling on state governments and education leaders to "update the K-12 curriculum in each state, for every student in every school to have the opportunity to learn computer science."
This unprecedented effort in U.S. education unites the leaders and founders of Apple, Microsoft, Alphabet, Amazon, and others with CEOs from companies including American Express, Nike, Starbucks, Delta Airlines, AT&T, UPS, Walgreens, and Hasbro, as well as education organizations like Khan Academy, the American Federation of Teachers, and the National Education Association.

Over the last decade, all 50 states have taken action to expand access to computer science, including allowing computer science to count toward core graduation requirements, funding professional learning to train more teachers, and creating clear certification pathways for computer science teachers. But the United States now has 700,000 open computing jobs, and only 5 percent of high school students study computer science each year.
