Aria Health’s Home Health Services Earns 5-Star Rating For Patient Experience
Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) February 04, 2016 -- Aria Health, the largest healthcare provider in Northeast Philadelphia and Lower Bucks County, today announced that its Home Health program received a 5-star rating – the highest possible – in the Home Health Care Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HHCAHPS). Aria Home Health also received a 4-star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Home Health Quality of Patient Care Star Rating. These ratings are reflective of Aria Home Health’s emphasis on patient engagement, education and a focused effort on coaching patients to manage their own disease.
“Home care has proven to be clinically effective, managing chronic diseases that account for 75 percent of healthcare spending,” said Denise Reinholt, MSN, RN, senior director of Aria Home Health. “At Aria Home Health, our aim is to promote medical independence in the community by empowering our skilled nurses to teach patients how to manage their disease or ailment, establishing realistic health goals, and providing the support they need to achieve them. These third-party ratings further prove that Aria Home Health is having a positive impact and benefiting patients in our community.”
Aria Home Health provides skilled nursing services such as pain management, patient education, monitoring of serious illnesses or unstable health conditions, rehabilitative services and more. By working directly with patients’ physicians to develop a personalized plan of care, Aria Home Health grants patients a comfortable recovery, independence and the highest degree of self-sufficiency.
These ratings come at a time when home health is gaining importance in the healthcare landscape. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) reported that 4.7 million patients received home health care in 2011, and millions of America’s seniors depend on home care services each year to remain healthy and stable at a lower cost. Home health care is helping seniors nationwide to stay in their homes longer without being a burden on their families. In fact, according to Medicare.gov, home health care is a viable alternative to long term care or a nursing home. Aria Home Health helps patients in the Northeast Philadelphia, Bucks County and Montgomery County communities to remain in their homes longer through services such as fall prevention, drug education, social work, strengthening and ambulation.
The HHCAHPS survey measures patient sentiment among those who received at least two skilled care home visits in the past year. Aria Home Health scored 90 percent and higher in four categories, including the home health team’s professionalism, communication and discussion abilities related to medication, pain and home safety. In addition, 90 percent of patients surveyed gave Aria Home Health a rating of nine or 10 on a scale of zero to 10, and 84 percent of patients responded that they would definitely recommend the agency to friends and family.
Similarly, the CMS Home Health Quality of Patient Care Star Rating is calculated using nine home health care quality measures. Aria scored higher than the national median in areas such as timely initiation of care, drug education on all medications, and improvement in ambulation and breathing.
