SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Oct. 21, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Soilworks, the world's leading manufacturer of dust control and soil stabilization products, has received Kosher certification for its revolutionary dust control product, Durasoil®.
The extensive process, which began in July 2019, was completed earlier this year after comprehensive site visits and disclosure of Durasoil's proprietary formula to ensure compliance with Jewish dietary laws. The company received its Kosher certification for Durasoil in March 2020.
Already supported by hundreds of third-party independent tests over nearly two decades, Soilworks' entire product line represents the industry standard for proven effectiveness and environmental efficacy in the dust suppression and soil stabilization industry. Now the company can add Kosher certification to its flagship product, Durasoil.
"It's a very important certification and one that follows the natural evolution for our innovative Durasoil product," said Soilworks CEO and Founder Chad Falkenberg. "We've worked hard over the years to earn the trust of our customers and respect for our commitment to the environment. This certification helps us demonstrate that commitment."
Applying for the Kosher certification made sense for the company as more and more agriculture applications are supplied by Soilworks.
To receive the Kosher certification, Soilworks had to submit its product and facilities to a strict review process that looked at not only the production and in-house handling of the product, but also the disclosure of Durasoil's proprietary ingredients.
Already a dominant force in dust control for the military, mining and construction industries, Durasoil is now being used broadly in agricultural applications, given its unique composition and relative safety for food uses such as rice and grain storage and milling. In addition, the company has begun supplying its Durasoil product to many wineries both domestically and internationally.
The demand in the agricultural industry stems from a need to control particulate matter – or fugitive dust particles that are less than or equal to 10 microns in diameter (PM10). Like many industries, the dust particles are released through day-to-day operations, wind, vehicles and equipment.
Agricultural dust control needs to be safe for farming operations and resulting crops. Given this, as well as the fact that approximately one-fifth of the world's population ascribes to the laws of Kosher, Falkenberg encouraged his team to seek Kosher certification.
"It just made sense," he said. "We knew the proprietary formula of Durasoil already made it safe for such use, but we also knew that we could pass the strict requirements of Kosher certification. And that would be a benefit to many people, including our customers and consumers."
The Kosher supervision process included sending a Mashgiach to Soilworks' production facility to ensure that Durasoil complies with Jewish law. The inspecting Rabbis scrutinized not only the components used but also the process used to produce Durasoil.
"Kosher supervision today is rather complicated," said Rabbi Levy. "We must know the highly secretive formulas of synthetic flavorings, as well as who is selling and buying from whom."
In the end, Falkenberg said the process, while intensive, was valuable both to Soilworks and its customers.
"Submitting ourselves to the scrutiny of a tradition that began as early as the 15th century demonstrates our confidence in the purity of Durasoil," Falkenberg said. "It also gives our customers the peace of mind to know that Durasoil is pure and ready for their use."
Soilworks' commitment to quality and performance has led to multiple dust control products including Durasoil®, Soiltac®, Gorilla-Snot® and Surtac®. Along the way, Soilworks has been awarded multiple patents for its cutting-edge dust control technology and unique high-performance soil stabilization solutions.
For example, Soilworks has received three patents for Durasoil, which is engineered for the most challenging intense-use dust control needs. The ultra-pure synthetic fluid is formulated with non-petroleum Gas-to-Liquid (GTL) technology, made from clean, plentiful natural gas. Durasoil is distinctively crystal clear, odorless and formulated to meet the highest standards of environmental efficacy. Similar to water that never evaporates or freezes, its unique ability to be continuously reworked and self-heal has dramatically elevated industry expectations of performance and longevity in the field.
