Arizona Youth Sports Day is in Scottsdale October 5
Scottsdale, AZ (PRWEB) September 08, 2013 -- Linking Sports & Communities (LSC) is celebrating its 10th anniversary of encouraging student athletes in Arizona to stay in school, lead healthy lifestyles, and be financially responsible. During the past decade, it has held its Annual Youth Sports Day in various locations from Tucson to Glendale. This year, on Saturday, October 5, the new Fight Ready mixed martial arts training center, at 8666 E Shea in Scottsdale, Arizona, will host Youth Sports Day 2013.
“We are excited to feature both new sponsors, like the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives, and long-time partners in educational workshops, sports clinics and at the health fair for this special event,” said Denise Meridith, Founder and President of LSC.
Fight Ready is owned by Jamir Miller, former Arizona Cardinal and CEO of Crave Chips. His state-of-the-art facility provides classes, training, camps, and fitness products for youth and adults. The Presenting Sponsor for this year’s event is Foothills Sports Medicine Physical Therapy, which provides rehabilitation, wellness and fitness services in 18 centers in the Valley and Tucson. Matt Gloyd, a physical therapist from Foothills Sports Medicine, will be making a presentation on prevention of common injuries among young athletes.
There will be other talks on concussions (Banner Health), illegal drugs, financial responsibility, and careers in sports. Speakers for the conference include Scottsdale Mayor Jim Lane, 2013 Community Leadership Lifetime Achievement Award winner Nick Lowery, and community leaders and representatives from professional sports organizations, government and business.
Youth attending the event will get to see demonstrations, participate in activities, enjoy a lunch from Subway, and see exhibits staffed by the Phoenix Coyotes, Shape Up US and other sports, community and business groups. Youth Sports Day is no cost to youth groups. If teachers, coaches or parents would like to bring youth, ages 12-18 to the event, they must register by contacting info(at)linkingsports(dot)org no later than September 13.
