Provider of White Glove Shipping for Specialized Items Unveils Most Interesting Items Shipped

Today, ARTA, provider of innovative technology and fulfillment solutions for global white glove logistics, is unveiling some of the most challenging items they have shipped throughout the year. This holiday season, online sales are predicted to increase by as much as 18 percent year-over-year, while items requiring white glove logistics and services have also increased more than 20 percent year-over-year. On the heels of the launch of ARTA for e-commerce, a single API that streamlines the logistical complications that come with selling high-value, oversized, and/or fragile goods online, ARTA is sharing its top five most complex shipments of the year.

ARTA’s Most Challenging Shipments of 2019 include:

#5. Everything but the Kitchen Sink: ARTA shipped an artist's entire studio from Brooklyn to the midwest for shipping costs that topped $55K. It required four handlers and 10 days to pack the 667 paintings.

Going Global: A $4M painting was being shipped overseas from London to a private collector in the U.S. The artwork was framed but not under glass, so packing was all the more important to keep safe. ARTA coordinated everything from deinstallation, crating, and tarmac supervision in two countries.

#3. Out and About: Because of the size and complexity of an enormous outdoor sculpture, the artwork needed to be uninstalled and crated and required a dedicated truck to transport it. The sculpture was actually cemented to a base where it was installed, so it required a jack hammer to disconnect it from that base in order to pack and transport it. The collection was in a remote location, so the team traveled to the site to help with the job. The team also built a custom crate for the large 80” H x 40” W x 40” D piece.

#2. The Entire Exhibition: ARTA packed, shipped and coordinated a traveling exhibition's multi-stop tour of a Renaissance artist.The Italian exhibition included 69 works on paper that were owned and on-loan from a private collector in Italy. ARTA fabricated two custom crates to transport all the works - and because the items were over 70 years old, it required a special export license with the Cultural Ministry in Italy, as well as tarmac supervision.

#1. Large and In-Charge: ARTA shipped an oversized and highly valuable $2MM painting by a major contemporary artist from the U.S. to Hong Kong. The piece was too large to fit on a freighter plane, so ARTA built an a-frame for the crate so that it could be transported safely, securely at a lean during transit. The process included coordinating 11 hours of tarmac supervision for the delivery between JFK and the Hong Kong airport.
