ArtExpo During Comic-Con July 24-26
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) July 17, 2014 -- ArtExpo is an eclectic selection of emerging artists and do-it-yourself creatives featuring original artwork, books, prints, and collectibles on July 24-26. Created by the students at Media Design School of Digital Arts at NSAD, ArtExpo is an alternative art fair taking place during Comic-Con and Gam3rCon at the Wonder Bread Factory, 121 14th Street, San Diego. Free to the public and curated by Mark Murphy, Murphy Design.

ArtExpo Class Description at the Media Design School of Digital Arts: Taught as a class, each ArtExpo team member is part of an elite group responsible for concept development, space design, exhibit design, traffic-flow, graphics, marketing and public relation components essential for resume building.

Mark Murphy, curator of ArtExpo, has curated 13 major art exhibitions during Comic-Con over the past 12 years and continues to celebrate the Narrative Arts. The spirit of community is always at the heart of Mark Murphy’s exhibits. Mark Murphy is also the owner of Murphy Design, a San Diego-based graphic design firm that specializes in branding, packaging, and book design. Mark has worked with Cartoon Network, Clint Eastwood, Brandon Boyd, Green Day, Hanna-Barbera and hundreds of artists from around the world.
#ArtExpoSD is a student-powered class at the new Media Design School of Digital Arts of NSAD: “One part class, one part internship, and many parts passionate exchange, students work hard to discover great artists, sponsors, and participants. They achieve hands-on experience while creating original graphics promoting the event.”

Media Design School of Digital Arts:
Located in the heart of cosmopolitan San Diego, and located at the Wonderbread Factory – an incubator of creative leadership centered around digital arts programs featuring motion graphics, game, and graphic design. The Media Design School is the author of ArtExpo, a multi-disciplinary studio class in charge of planning, promoting, and hosting an annual alternative art fair event. ArtExpo Gallery: First Floor (Thursday, July 24 – Saturday, July 26)
The first floor is simply a gallery exhibition. ArtExpo’s exhibition is a curated and eclectic mix of narrative styles, genre, and a mix of artists featuring emerging and established artists from San Diego and around the world.

ArtExpo Convention: Second Floor (Thursday, July 24 – Saturday, July 26)
The second floor is an Expo or Comic-Con oriented display of booths, with artists making available zines, books, DIY- creative projects, T-Shirts, Jewelry, and Art-oriented products, prints, etc. ArtPin will be featuring live painting, demos at booths, and all artists will be on site.
Sponsors - Cartwheel Art from Los Angeles is bringing 50 different artists to ArtExpo and featuring many local luminaries in their line up.

We are proud to present museum artists Debby and Larry Kline who are working on a celebration of our local military featuring real stories from regional veterans. The Expo space on the second floor will feature many new works, never before seen collectibles, as well as many new zines, T-Shirts, prints, and creative items available for sale. This is a tour de force for creative works and we invite all fans of art and culture, art collectors and fans of creative work to come out to this Free Event.

Exhibitions over the past 13 years have special focus on the art genre, “Narrative Arts” or storytelling, and has featured over 1,000 international artists in the San Diego community during Comic-Con. ArtExpo is an intermingling of contemporary themes and narrative work that includes: Low Brow, Graphic Narrative, Comics, Outsider Art, and DIY-creative work.

All artists featured on the second floor will be supporting their product offering while working in their booths. Artists will be painting, drawing, doodling, and the second floor space will present live painting sponsored by ArtPin over Friday and Saturday.
