New York / Berlin (PRWEB) August 06, 2014 -- artnet Auctions is proud to present Summer Ephemera, a selection of rare and exceptional art collectibles, one-of-a-kind objects, signed posters, and dedicated memorabilia. Featuring over 100 works, the sale includes items by a diverse array of artists, such as Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, Salvador Dalí, Ed Ruscha, Tom Sachs, Richard Prince, Jeff Koons, David Hockney, Damien Hirst, Robert Indiana, Roy Lichtenstein, and Christo and Jeanne-Claude, among others. Works in this sale have estimates ranging from US$300 to 25,000.
Among the sale’s highlights is Andy Warhol’s signed offset lithograph Flowers (estimated at US$18,000 to 25,000). Rarely signed, this iconic print was published in 1964 by the Leo Castelli Gallery to coincide with Warhol’s first exhibition at the famed Pop gallery. The sale also features a full set of 10 announcement cards promoting the artist’s Mick Jagger series, and includes one signed card. The set is estimated at US$3,000 to 5,000. In addition, the sale features a selection of commercial objects signed by Warhol, including a Campbell’s Cream of Mushroom Soup label (estimated at US$2,000 to 3,000) and a Playboy magazine spread, which is also decorated with hand-drawn dollar signs (estimated at US$500 to 700).
Another notable item in this sale is the rare artists' book Stamped Indelibly from 1967 (estimated at US$5,000 to 7,000). This book contains 14 prints made with rubber stamps by Warhol, Tom Wesselmann, Robert Indiana, Claes Oldenburg, and Red Grooms, among others. Other Pop collectibles on offer include Roy Lichtenstein’s Modern Head Brooch (estimated at US$3,500 to 5,500) and Paper Plate (estimated at US$400 to 800), as well as Robert Indiana’s two-foot Love Rug (estimated at US$500 to 700).
Another highlight of the sale is New Wave Cookbook, a set of 14 cards that record "recipes" by various New Wave New York personalities, including a very early Jean-Michel Basquiat print (estimated at US$2,000 to 3,000). Several posters signed by Keith Haring, which feature his iconic dancing figures and Radiant Baby, are also on offer, including an early poster for a show at the Robert Fraser Gallery in 1981 (estimated at US$1,000 to 2,000), and another poster for the Children’s Museum of Manhattan (estimated at US$1,000 to 1,500). Other unusual items include Tom Sachs’s Chanel-logo-adorned Rat Trap (estimated at US$2,000 to 3,000), and The Wrong Gallery, a miniature art gallery entrance by Maurizio Cattelan, Adam McEwan, and Elizabeth Peyton (estimated at US$3,000 to 5,000).
